Meet Jennifer Smallwood! Mrs. Smallwood is our Nurse here at NHHS. She has been a school nurse for more than 15 years. She lives in the North Hall area and would not want to live anywhere else. Mrs. Smallwood lives with her husband, daughter and their two dogs Bristol and Dega. She loves all things racing, Nascar and Chase Elliott. Mrs. Smallwood is also a huge Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves fan! Eddie Rosario and Ozzie Albies are her favorite Braves players and of course you will find her yelling for our own Dan Jackson for GA. Mrs. Smallwood loves to travel especially anywhere there is a beach involved!

We would like to thank Mrs. Smallwood for her time and for serving our students so well!

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

A: “I am married to my best friend of almost 30 years, Darion Smallwood. We have one daughter, Ansley who is one of the Assistant Girl’s Basketball coaches and teaches at Lanier Elementary. We have 2 doggies named Bristol and Dega. I love Nascar, Chase Elliott, Atlanta Braves and antique cars!”

Q: Please tell us about your career. What do you love most about what you do?

A: “I have been a nurse 27 years. Before becoming a school nurse I worked at NGHS on Mother/Baby. I worked in ICU before Mother/Baby and have worked at The Longstreet clinic OB/GYN where I did triage and worked for Dr. Askew. I absolutely LOVE being the nurse here at NHHS because of the relationships I have formed with my students and staff. It is the BEST school there is.”

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants or shops in our community?

A: “El Maguey’s hands down is my favorite restaurant.”

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

A: “I have lived in NH 29 years and have been a nurse here in NH for 17 years.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

A: “Greece, I have traveled to the Caribbean a lot but would love to see that area to take in the history.”

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

A: “Hawaii Five-0 for tv show and all the Fast and Furious movies.”

Q: What advice would you give to people?

A: “Make your words nice and sweet because you never know when you may have to eat them.”

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

A: “Longstreet Cafe.”

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

A: “Chase Elliott, meet at the Dawsonville Pool Room because of all the racing history and they have great hamburgers. I’d like to have lunch with him because I was one of the nurses on duty the day he was born and I gave him his first ever bath.”

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique you love about our community?

A: “I love how this NH community shows up for important sporting events! They travel the distance no matter what the mileage is to support our athletes! Most counties do not do that and that is one thing that makes NH so special!”

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

A: “Closer to the 10 year mark, I would like to retire and be able to visit the beach more!”
