Meet KayLynn Samples. Miss Samples is the Work-Based Learning Coordinator and Competition Cheer Coach for North Hall High School.  Kaylynn’s family is her “whole life” and she enjoys hanging out with her two dogs, Bilbo (a Miniature Dapple Dachshund) and Maislie “Maze” Kay (a Purebred Golden Retriever).

We would like to thank KayLynn Samples for her time.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about North Hall?

A: “Trojan Nation. Because we really are a family here.”

Q:  What’s your favorite tradition at North Hall?

A: “The homecoming pep rally. My girls get to perform and they feel encouraged by their fellow classmates.”

Q: Who is your favorite teacher or faculty member at North Hall?

A: “That’s a tough one… because honestly, I have multiple favorites. There are lovable people around every corner.”

Q: Who is your mentor or role model? Who inspires you to be better?

A: “My mom, Rhonda Samples. She is the hardest working, most successful woman I know. Currently, she works two important jobs at the same time. She’s the CEO of LCCA and the Executive Director of CTAE for all of Hall County Schools. How she does and goes above and beyond, I have no idea. She’s a superwoman.”

Q: Did any of your family members attend North Hall?

A: “My mom graduated from North Hall in 1978. She also taught at North Hall from 1981-2001, then she moved to Chestatee when it opened.”

Q: Tell us about your current career. What do you love most about what you do?

A: “I am the Work-Based Learning Coordinator here at North Hall. I support students as they participate in on-the-job experiences. I also help to support our CTAE programs. When I was in high school, I did WBL myself and to personally experience what this program can do for you makes a difference. It changes lives and it has actually given kids opportunities that made them the successful individuals they are today!”

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

A: “Trina Wingo. She always gives me the best advice and man, she doesn’t put up with anything. I am a softy and cannot do confrontation so Trina is slowly helping me grow a backbone. Emphasis on SLOWLY.”

Q: What advice would you want to give or leave with people?

A: “Be kind always because you never know what others are going through.”

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

A: “My big sister and best friend Christin. First off, she is an amazing mother to my nephew, Harrison Andrew, but making me Auntie Kay isn’t her only greatest accomplishment. She is Christin Lee, MSN, AGACNP-BC. In other words, she is a Nurse Practitioner at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. She works in the outpatient setting specializing in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers and head and neck cancers. She does everything she can to save lives, and that’s why she inspires me to be better.”

Q: In hard times we can see and recognize greatness in those around us. Who is one of our local shining lights?

A: “Melissa Sewell. If I am ever feeling down or overwhelmed, just a visit to the front office to see her is all I need. Even if she is super busy, she takes the time to be there for me. She is definitely my “work mom.”
