Meet Sam Borg, a proud member of the North Hall Community. When Coach Borg is not on the athletic fields of North Hall High School, you will find him hitting the perfect wave on Lake Lanier, spending time with his family, or coordinating youth mission projects to the Dominican Republic. Sam is from the North Hall graduating class of 2001, and is now an Assistant Principal and the Athletic Director. His wife, Jill, is a 4th grade teacher at Mount Vernon Elementary and their two sons attend North Hall Middle School.
Thank you, Coach Borg, for spending time with our class and sharing your interests.
Q: If you could choose anyone alive today and not a relative, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where would you meet for this lunch?
A: “Michael Jeffrey Jordan! I’d like to go anywhere with a big TV and good food to watch his documentary, The Last Dance, with him and hang out and talk about his whole career.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “Snowboard off of a helicopter, I love snowboarding and I go out west every year. They drop you off on an untouched, really steep mountain and you jump out of a helicopter. That sounds amazing.”
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
A: “Spanish worship music, Barak, Evan Craft, there’s so many. Stadium music too, especially before a game, I like to get hyped.”
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “Hitting a big wakeboard jump on a glass evening on Lake Lanier when no one else is out there and the water is perfect. Sunset, that last run of the night, is a 10 out of 10. ”
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “My number one comes from my faith, the example Christ sets for me, that’s where I get the way I want to live my life. Also, different mentors along the way. Professionally, Mr. Schofield is someone I really respect and I want to follow in the way I lead. My parents are amazing. They are career long missionaries and people I respect, and hopefully will make proud in the life I live.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
A: “Bubba Little, he is amazing. He served as a Custodian for North Hall as a school and North Hall Athletics for 20 plus years. He’s a humble servant. He knows where every key is and everything about this campus. He loves this campus. His family played a sad part in our history in the 1998 tornado, when I was a student, a 9th grader here when the tornado hit our school. His family lived across the road and lost loved ones during the tornado. When I think of North Hall, I think of Bubba as a humble servant.”
Q: What advice would you want to give or leave with people?
A: “Whatever you do, work at it with all of your heart. Have a passion for life. I try to be a positive person. There’s so much negativity and division in the world. I try to inspire and influence people to be thankful for what we do have and be inspired for what we can do”
