Meet April Stone. April is one of many smiling faces found in the North Hall community, and an inspiration to many. April works for the Sherriff’s Department and serves the North Hall community as a crossing guard. She is known for her colorful outfits, which she designs and makes herself! April also works as a Manager at Francis Meadows. We love to see her friendly smile as she helps guide traffic in and out of our schools!
We would like to thank April for spending time with us and for serving our community so well.
Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself
A: “I was born and raised in Clermont on Skitts Mountain and I married my middle school sweetheart Chris Stone. We have three children: Jared Magrogan, Sierra and Jake Stone. Jake actually is still here and is in 10th grade.
Q: What are you involved in at North Hall?
A: “I’ve been working at the Sheriff’s Department for almost 15 years on and off by being a crossing guard because we really have control over the roadways. I originally started working through the Sheriff’s department when my son was little. He would watch a movie in my car while I was the crossing guard.. I’m also a manager at Francis Meadows and have gotten to know a lot of people through that which just makes me love the community even more.”
Q: What are some of your hobbies and interests?
A: “Well I do ride a motorcycle and that’s really helped me to just always be aware of my surroundings, which helps me with my job. I also make most of my clothes and most of my bell bottoms I make myself. I make my purses, I paint my own nails, I’m very crafty and just love anything to do with crafts!”
Q: What advice would you want to give or leave with people?
A: “Just smile because you never really know what somebody else is going through, and so just smiling even when you’re hurting may just change their life.”
Q: What are some of your favorite restaurants?
A: “La Parilla in Oakwood or probably Fishtails in Flowery Branch”
Q: Who in North Hall do you look up to or inspires you?
A: “Everybody. Everybody in the community is just so amazing and different. I don’t think I could choose a single person. My kids inspire me.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “I want to race the Baja in Nevada for 24 hours.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
A: “I hope I’m probably still working here. I hope I’m living happily on a Highland cow farm, and I want to raise them as pets and do photography shoots there.”
Q: In hard times we can sometimes see and recognize greatness in those around us. Hard working. Positive attitudes. Working on the front lines. Who is one of our local shining lights?
A: “Anita Buffington. She tries to inspire people and is always smiling and bubbly. She is the School Resource Officer at the Middle School.”
