Meet Jason Hughes! Mr. Hughes is a math teacher and the golf coach at North Hall High School. Additionally, he is married to fellow teacher at North Hall, Laura Hughes, and he loves teaching and investing in the next generation.
The North Hall High School marketing classes thank Jason Hughes for letting us interview him.
Q: Tell us a little bit about your family.
A: “My wife (Laura) and I have been married for 13 years. We both teach at North Hall High School. We have two sons, Owen and Luke, and they both love soccer and Pokémon and Beyblades.”
Q: Tell us about your current career and what do you love most about your job.
A: “ I learned during college that I wanted to be a teacher and I’ve been a teacher for 15 years. I love investing in the next generation and having an influence on them.”
Q: What is one of your favorite movies or TV shows?
A: “My favorite movie of all time is the Sandlot. I have probably seen it 100 times and could probably quote it, but I don’t really watch TV shows. I mainly just watch the Braves or sports.”
Q: What are some of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “ Our family loves Mr. Teriyaki, Pueblos and if it was just me and Laura we would go to Luna’s. ”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
A: “I would love to still be teaching and investing in the next generation.”
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “Being a man of faith, Jesus, but also my wife Laura who is just an encouragement. Then there are two men, both pastors Adam Smith of Corinth church and Randy Williams of Concord church.”
Q. Did any of your family attend North Hall?
A. “My Mother and Father in law and my Brother and Sister in law.”
Q. What are 3 words or phrases you think about when you hear “North Hall High School?”
A.“ I think of strong community, friendly, and small town. When I worked at Brookwood I lived the exact same distance from Brookwood as I do from North Hall and it took me three times as long to get there. So I love the small town feel.”
