Meet  John Dickerson! Mr. Dickerson is our Security guard for the Student and Staff Parking beside North Hall High School. He is married with three daughters and is now enjoying his time as a grandpa with 3 children.

We want to thank John for spending time with us recently and telling us more about his life and love for North Hall High School. 

 

Tell me a little bit about yourself and family?

 

A: “My name is John Dickerson. I am happily married to CheryI, with 3 daughters, Holly, Mallory and Lindsey. Now I am blessed with 3 grandchildren, Dhruv, Carter, and Quinn.” Mr. Dickerson said that he was born in Atlanta, GA, then he moved to Athens, GA at a young age. As he got older he moved to the Gainesville area and attended East Hall High School. 

 

What’s your favorite thing about North Hall?

 

A: John said that the North Hall community is full of good-natured people and a diverse area. While protecting North Hall High School, others from the community stop by and talk to him. “Over the years I’ve worked and been around a lot of good people, but North Hall has to be one of the best” He stated during his interview. 

 

Who is or was your role model?

 

A: “Even though he is not alive anymore, probably my Grand-dad. He believed in a good work ethic and morality.” During the interview John said that his grand-dad built a convenient store that he helped in as a kid. “I can’t forget about my grandma, I was always staying with her for vacation bible school, matter of fact they introduced me to God.”

 

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

 

A: “Astronomy has always been an interest of mine since I was a kid. And I also played drums throughout high school at East Hall and I now help out at my church, Hopewell Baptist”

 

What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

 

A: “Red Lobster, Texas Roadhouse, and Nichols Diner.”

 

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

 

A: “Israel to see some of the bible locations in person. We had a trip planned through church years ago but it fell through and I still want to go

Another place would be Hawaii, the beaches look nice and my wife has always wanted to go.”

 

What advice would you give or leave with people?

 

A: “Be a Christian of course” Mr. Dickerson said he would like to “Influence people to follow Jesus.”

 

What is something on your bucket list?

 

A: “Hang Gliding has always been on my list” John related back to his teenage memories and claimed that he was in the “dare devil” group. “Me and my friends climbed that water tower in Gainesville” John said with a chuckle.

 

What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

 

A: “God’s goodness and my family”
