Meet Kevin Carwile. Mr. Carwile is the Band Director at North Hall High School. He does marching shows,  judges, and works at his family-owned music stores, Gwinnett Discount Music, and their other store in Lawrenceville. He sees himself with his Doctorate within the next 5 to 10 years and possibly retired. His favorite restaurants in our community are Senor Fiesta, Trueloves, Avocados, Atlas Pizza, and Mellow Mushroom. Three words he used to describe North Hall High School were community, pride, and achievement.

 

We thank Kevin for allowing us the time to interview him, we learned a lot of new and interesting things about him, and the North Hall Community.

 

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

A: “I lived in Buford for 13 years, but I lived in Lawrenceville for my whole life. This is my 13th year teaching here”

 

Q: What advice would you give or leave with people?

A: “Slow and right is better than fast and wrong”

 

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

A: “The Shawshank Redemption”

 

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

A: “North Hall Tire”

 

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

A: “Harold Daniels”

 

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

A: “Germany, because my wife’s heritage is from there.”

 

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch with? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?

A: “Elon Musk, pick his brain, find out what to invest in, and I would take him to Burger Shake”

 

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community? And secondly, what is something you hope our community has or does in the future?

A: “Involvement in school, and taking care of each other”

 

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

A: “To step foot in all fifty states”

 

Q: And, what is something you have been proud to check off your bucket list?

A: “Being paid to play music, and breaking 80 in golf”

 

Q: What is your go-to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?

A: “Prince Artery”

 

Q: In hard times we can sometimes see and recognize greatness in those around us. Hard-working. Positive attitudes. Helping on the front lines. Who is one of our local shining lights today?

A: “Chris Haynes”

 

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?

A: “Lucerne, Switzerland”

 

Q: Favorite month? Favorite holiday? And the best single day on the calendar?

A: “November, Christmas, and the first day of band camp”

A: “The ribs at Fat Matt’s Rib Shack”
